  • Use an optical power meter to measure input/output power; ensure insertion loss is within acceptable limits (e.g., ≤3.5 dB for a 1:2 split) .
  • Check that each output channel's optical power is within the recommended range (-20 dBm to -25 dBm) to avoid network instability .
  • Limit the number of devices per splitter to prevent bandwidth reduction .
