- Open the splice closure by loosening the fixing bolts without fully removing them to prevent losing small parts .
- Place fibers in the splice tray, maintaining the minimum bending radius (typically 10× the fiber diameter for unarmored cables, 15× for armored cables), .
- Perform splicing (fusion or mechanical) according to standard procedures, securing each splice in the holders provided.
- Wind excess fiber neatly in the tray to prevent stress or damage .
Step 4: Final Sealing and Closure
- Check all components are properly seated and fibers are organized.
- Seal the closure by tightening bolts and ensuring all entry points are watertight.
- Verify grounding and bonding connections are secure.
- Label the closure for identification and maintenance purposes .

- Test optical continuity and signal loss using an OTDR or power meter to ensure splices are low-loss and functional.
- Document the installation including splice counts, cable routes, and test results for future maintenance . Following these steps ensures a reliable, low-loss fiber optic connection and protects the network from environmental damage, mechanical stress, and signal degradation.
