Step 4: Bundle and Secure Cables

Group cables by function (e.g., network, power, VoIP) and use Velcro straps or cable ties loosely to avoid crushing cables . Avoid tight bundling, especially with high-power PoE++ cables, to prevent overheating . Use color-coded cables to create a visual map of the network, which simplifies troubleshooting and onboarding of new staff .

Step 5: Label and Document

Label both ends of each cable with unique identifiers. Maintain a digital or physical documentation of cable connections, patch panels, and network flows to improve transparency and facilitate maintenance . This ensures quick identification during upgrades or troubleshooting.

Step 6: Maintain Airflow and Accessibility

Ensure that cable bundles do not obstruct ventilation paths. Proper routing and spacing help maintain cooling efficiency, reducing the risk of hardware overheating . Leave enough room for future cable additions without creating tangles or blocking airflow.
